Join Nerds Never Say Die host, Danny Ballard, as he and owner of Watch Media Group, Katie Rose Waechter, discuss how to change the way we talk about suicide and mental illness to hopefully reduce the stigma surrounding it. They also discuss the epidemic of suicide in the 21st century, suicide and social media, warning signs and risk factors, and provide information for suicide lifelines, support groups, counseling, ways to get involved, and other southern Nevada resources.

Katie Waechter was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a BA in psychology and an MS in Information Science with a focus on Mental Health Informatics from the University of North Texas. She has 15 years of combined experience in creative writing and mental health research. She’s been writing research-driven health-related content for nearly a decade. She is a published poet and has articles published in national and local magazines. She’s given speeches and workshops on social media, content writing, and mental health to crowds big and small. She is passionate about mental health and looking to make a difference in the mental health industry. Katie currently works closely with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Southern Nevada Chapter, and she is currently writing her first book, titled: Watching Worry.
